TEACHING OBJECTIVES

Professional Practice in architecture means working on an open market in a responsible way, respecting a code of ethics, delivering complete missions and sustaining the quality of life.
The course prepares the students for their first steps as architects working on real projects for real clients and places. Students learn about the roots and history of the profession, about the architecture profession as a regulated body at both national and international levels, about missions and responsibilities, costs, contracts and management, and about the complex relations with clients, end-users, consultants and engineers, contractors and project managers. The course illustrates the main challenges working as an architect in a digital era, considering the Building Information Modelling and the A.I. Different types of procurement and different types of project delivery (such as design & build, etc.) are also studied and compared. Finally, the course is about our scope of practice for a sustainable and resilient built environment.
